World Book Day Flying High with Reading
World Book Day Dress Up

St James School is flying high with reading!
A recent visit from poet, performer and author, A. F Harrold, has inspired St James’ World Book Day display. Through reading his poems, we have been reminded that the only limit to how far you can go is your imagination. Everything on the display has been made from scratch with the children. Our display features a giant hot air balloon sculpted from wire and coated with multi-coloured tissue paper. Below the balloon, sits a basket filled with books, magazines and newspapers which children are able to borrow and read. Children in years 3 and 6 helped create the balloon and our talented year 6 librarians helped create a cascade of books tumbling from the basket of the hot air balloon. Our backdrop is themed around A. F Harrold’s poem, Dreamless. Our favourite lines from the poem are part of the display:
“It’s a dull night with no dreams in…
It’s a dull day with no dreams in either.”
