PE and Forest School:
This term we will be having PE every Tuesday afternoon.
Please ensure you child has their full PE kit in school on a Tuesday. It is helpful to have a PE kit in school every day in case we do additional activities that require PE kit.
Forest School is still due to be timetabled so please bear with us. However, a change of clothes for Forest School is good to have in school in case we need it. This should be clothes that you do not mind getting muddy, a coat and a spare pair of shoes (preferably wellies).
Homework each week will include reading, spellings, times table grids, TT Rockstars and one other task to support our learning in class (this could include reading comprehension, learning expedition, grammar or maths).
All homework will be sent out on Fridays and will need to be uploaded to Class Dojo by the following Thursday each week. Spelling and Times Table Grid tests will be on a Thursday.
Below is the Class Dojo link for uploading homework:
In Key Stage 2 pupils have access to Accelerated Reader. When a child has read their book (ideally more than once to develop their understanding), they are able to quiz on their book in school. The percentage that they get correct shows their understanding and contributes to the average class percentage. If you currently do not receive emails updating you when your child has done a quiz, please let us know and we can set this up. Each child is set a termly points target and book target and they earn points each time they pass a quiz. For those children that meet their reading target, a reading reward will take place at the end of each term.
Accelerated Reader can only be accessed during school hours.
The children learn a new spelling pattern each week. Children are tested on their spelling patterns each week but our focus is on learning the rule and understanding of the patterns. New spellings will go home on a Friday and will be tested the following Thursday.
Children also have their award spellings to work towards and they will be tested on these each half term and will be awarded a special certificate if they get them all correct.
Our Learning Expedition for the Autumn Term is World War Two.
A Curriculum Map and Knowledge Organiser are below to outline what we will be covering over this term of work.
