Home Learning for January 5th-8th
Please see below for a daily timetable supporting you and your child to continue to access the curriculum at home. Please refer to the blended learning homepage for the principles and advice guiding our home learning offer. We endeavour to provide links that are accessible via a mobile phone and the learning can then be recorded on paper if appropriate. This can be shared via Class Dojo to enable your child's class teacher to provide feedback and guide you and your child on the next steps in their learning.
There will be supplementary videos posted by class teachers on Class Dojo and remember to tune in for your stories. :)

WALT: use dialogue within a narrative. Before starting the film, predict what you think the film will be about and why. Discuss the word Oktapodi – what do you think it means and why? https://www.literacyshed.com/oktapodi.htmln Pause the clip at these points, discuss what is happening and predict what might happen next: 12 seconds, 20 seconds, 27 seconds, 49 seconds and 1:12 seconds Rewatch all the way through and then think about these questions: Where do you think the setting is and why? What were the octopi thinking at different points? Whose side were you on and why? Writing task Now write a narrative (story) to explain the events of the clip in an exciting way. Choose a couple of different parts of the story to include some dialogue (speech) that the octopi might say to each other. In the resources section, there is a toolkit with a suggested starter, a story map and a word bank to support you. I will post a video on Dojo at 9.30am to recap to discuss the toolkit and model how to write dialogue. Happy writing all! 😊 |

WALT: add whole numbers with more than 4 digits Watch and go through the White Rose input session (the third video named as above). This lesson is a step on from yesterday, as more columns will be required and you may have to exchange in any column. Pause and answer the questions as you go and have a go at each of the activities where it says: ‘Have a think’. Remember that you can replay any sections that you found tricky, or would like to hear again in order to help you to understand it. Week 4 - Number: Addition & Subtraction | White Rose Maths At 11am I will be posting a video onto class Dojo to show how to generate the numbers for the children to calculate. If you have a die at home then that would be great, if not you can use this online die: https://nrich.maths.org/6717 Like I will demonstrate, please make sure you challenge yourself! |

Wellbeing Creative Activity We understand that some of you may be feeling anxious about being back at home for your learning, or what is going on in the world. Being anxious is a completely normal emotion that everybody feels sometimes. Here is an idea that may help, but is also fun! During your daily exercise collect a stone and then write, draw or paint a worry on one side of the stone and a positive comment on the other.
Remember to upload your pictures of your finished stones to Class Dojo.
