Remember to complete all of these independently, as we would in class and post pictures of them on Class Dojo. This is to allow Miss Forbes and Miss Glover to assess what we need to work on more when we return to school.

RE

1:15-2:30

Introduction

WALT: understand the reason for Lent

Independent Activities

Before half term we thought about the events leading up to Holy Week – Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day), Ash Wednesday and Lent (the 40 days leading up to Easter).

But why is Lent 40 days long? Open the document below named ‘Lent’ to find out why.

Now look at the document named ‘What do Christians do during Lent?’ and order the sentences from most to least important for a Christian. For the sentence you choose as the most important write why you think this (relate your reason to the Easter story if you can).

There is no right or wrong way for you to order them.

This is because it shows that Christians practise Lent in all kinds of different ways, including the fact that some Christians do not practise it at all. Lent is not mentioned in the Bible and is a tradition that has developed as a preparation for Easter, so many Christians would say that while Lent traditions can be helpful, it is not essential to observe Lent.

Spellings

Spelling Test!

Ask an adult to read out your award spellings to you and let me know how many you get right!

Good luck!

Next week's spellings can be found below.

If your child completes Snip Spellings, they can also be found below. There are different sessions, but we have chosen a variety of spellings from across the sessions. They will also have 2 spellings from the weekly class spellings to practise which are linked to a spelling rule.
