Additional Support
Welcome!

Welcome!
My name is Sylvie Barton and I am the intervention teacher at St James Church School. My current role is to offer additional support to children and families during Home Learning. We understand how challenging virtual learning can be and aim to support using a variety of different session types.
Please see below for more information.
Live Story Times
Sessions for KS1 and KS2. Reading a range of interesting stories and poetry, with time for discussion after.
Social Meets/Check Ins
Small group check-ins with some virtual games and time to chat to friends.
Phonics Interventions
Offered in separate sessions to Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and KS2.
Fun, interactive games to engage the children and help them make accelerated progress with their Phonics.
These sessions will be fun and low-pressure, aiming to help children make progress and feel motivated and engaged with their home learning. The sessions are in addition to the high quality virtual learning they are receiving from their class teachers and are not compulsory. They will not require any additional work from parents and carers.
These sessions will be offered to small groups of children at first but we will continually review these groups and add more children if needed. Parents will be sent an invitation with a link to the meetings.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me directly (via messages on ClassDojo) or your child’s teacher if you feel that you and your child need additional support during these times.
Looking forward to meeting some of you (virtually) soon!
