On Monday, 19 children from KS2 performed at Exeter Cathedral as part of Teacher’s Rock Youth Choir. There were over 260 children from all over Devon and Somerset performing together alongside Miss Williams’ and Mrs O’Connor’s choir ‘Teachers’ Rock’. We set off first thing and were singing almost as soon as we arrived (adults and children) until we finished at 9pm. It was a long but very enjoyable day.
During the rehearsals, we were joined by Rev Basil Mead MBE, most famous for his work with London Gospel Choir who perform on many TV programmes and films including ‘Love Actually’. He worked on some of our gospel numbers and Debbie Kent, the musical director of Teachers’ Rock, helped us with the others. The tickets had sold out within three weeks of going on sale so the cathedral was packed out with an audience of over 700! Some of us were very nervous, adults included, about performing in front of that many people, but by the end Ella said she was ‘over it’ and would happily perform anywhere!
It was fantastic to see so many parents who were able to attend and celebrate the hard work of their children. We hope you enjoyed it as much we did. It certainly was a very special unforgettable event.
